ESG Iberconsa

Our
commitment

Sustainability as a key principle.

Sustainability is a key principle of our company and the company’s commitment to the UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 are hallmarks of our values

We understand our responsibility as one of the market leaders in the seafood industry to implement our ESG objectives with care and due diligence in each market we operate.

Our actions are in line with our overall mission in providing healthy seafood in a sustainable way.

Environmental

Environmental concerns and sustainable actions are integrated in all areas of our value chain. We catch in Argentina, Namibia and South Africa only through the corresponding license or quota, which guaratees the proper managament of the fishing ground and the long term sustainability of the marine resource.

Actions

Fleet renewal

We are committed with the continuous renewal of our fleet in all the fishing grounds we operate, where oldest vessels are replaced by more efficient vessels to reduce our GHG emissions.

Solar energy production

Two photovoltaic plants have been deployed in Namibia and Vigo, where we already produce more than 1,500 MwH of solar energy per year.

Water management

Both consumption and withdrawal are managed with the maximum care.

We are shareholders of Rawson Ambiental S.A., company in charge of the proper effluent management coming from our Shrimp processing plant in Rawson (Argentina).

Sustainable materials development

Collaboration with the EU-funded Sealive project, which aims to reduce marine ecosystem contamination by using advanced bioplastic solutions such as biodegradable fishing nets, which we are already using in one of our brand new shrimp trawlers.
