Propesca Project

The project fits in challenge 2 of  2015 ERDF INNTERCONECTA program called “Safety and food quality; productive and sustainable agricultural activity, natural resources,   marine researchand and wellfare” and its execution period is from July 2015 to December 2019. It will be developed almost 100% in Galicia Region, with an estimated budget of 2.195.781,00 €, co-financed by the Industrial Development Tecnological Center of MAPAMA and the European Regional Development Funds (ERDF).

The global approach is the FISH PROCESSING INNOVATION. The project looks for the quality preservation of the catched fish products. First on the vessels, reducing its handling and bringing added value with new processing technologies and ellaborations, and then in the factories, innovating in the preservation processes allowing processing and ellaboration after the freezing process.

The proposal is to investigate and develop innovative technologies processes on the vessels, and preservation and ellaboration in the factories, stablishing 4 activities to be developed:

ACTIVIVITY 1: DEVELOP AN INNOVATIVE SYSTEM FOR SQUID CLASSIFICATION ON THE VESSELS.

ACTIVITY 2: DESIGN AND VALIDATION OF A FILLETING MACHINE FOR SMALL SIZE FISHES.

ACTIVITY 3: INNOVATION FOR HAKE AND RED SHRIMP PROCESSING IN THE FACTORIES.

ACTIVITY 4: DEVELOPMENT OF A MEGRIM GUTTING MACHINE FOR THE FRESH FLEET.

This project aims to preserve best quality, usage of suitable preservation methodologies, and increase food safety by reducing fish degradation due to handling and processing.

The project is developed almost 100% in Galicia Region
